Maria, who runs the weekly anime program at the Troy Public Library, is planning a mini-convention for October 16th, starting sometime around 10 AM or noon, and running until 7 or 8 PM. She'd like to have Iron Cosplay, which I agreed to since it pretty much runs itself once I get the boxes there, and she'd also like to have some panels. I told her we could certainly do one on cosplay, and maybe one on "Convention-going 101" or something. It's aimed at people around high school age, I think, and they're going to cap attendees at 30 or so. There'll be video games, anime, snacks, etc. Would anyone like to attend to help run panels, or anything? Maybe judge a costume contest? Can anyone suggest more panels we should offer?

As some of you may or may not know, I am the producers of a (largely) Canadian-filmed fan film, Batman 1969. I am also the creator of a fan series that has been in pre-production for at least a year or so, Carrie's World.

And I want to publicise the fan series, because it will be mostly filmed in and around the Capital District of New York. Indeed, though I live in New York's Southern Tier, it is my intent to relocate to, say, Saratoga County. I had hoped to get the series launched last year, but a variety of circumstances prevented me from doing so. That said, however, I did get footage of Harley Quinn and a young Joker.

I have some other roles taken care of, notably the Golden Age Sandman, Scarecrow, Green Arrow and Batman. However, I am in need of

Carrie Kelley, the Robin who is the lead character in the series.

Catwoman

If any of you are interested in working with me, definitely let me know. I hope to get this series up and running soon. For those who may already be involved, I am sorry for the delays, but I have had a LOT of changes since the beginning of the year. But we WILL get a fan series going! More to follow …

Hi all,
The final picnic planning meeting will take place on Saturday, July 24 from 3-5. The location will be at Kathy's house; where the workshop days have been held. It is a smaller meeting and will focus on picnic logistics, so there is no pressure to attend; it is also the week before Otakon, so good luck on finishing your costumes!
The first picnic flier is complete and on the Facebook group. Additional fliers will be available soon!

Hi all,
Next week I will be meeting with Ryan from Jay St. Gaming, an awesome video game store in Schenectady. He'd opening a new store in Colonie Center than will be both a great place to shop, and a spot for gamers to hang out together. He's looking to hold tournaments, leagues and other events; and he's looking for our help!
As the 2nd location opening is a few weeks away, we're going to be chatting to see if we can schedule any days in the near future when he'll need some cosplayers. When I find out, I'll be posting some dates and times.
I hope to have more details next week!

Cosplay Chess at Genericon XXIV

Hey everyone! Genericon is roughly six months away! That means it's time to start thinking about this year's Cosplay Chess Theme!
I was approached by someone who suggested that we do a Living Vs. the Dead theme for this year, which sounds pretty good to me.
I was also thinking, it would be interesting if this years match had something of a narrative, as if the two combatants in the match are re-enacting a great battle. This year, I would also like to try what I had wanted to do and have an announcer that coordinated between the two sides, partly to entertain, but also to ensure that the pieces are moving correctly and to make sure that everyone is hearing/understanding one another.
My initial thought as for an actual narrative would be of a love story that crosses from the living to the dead. I was thinking that it would be interesting to have Seymour from Final Fantasy X as the King on the Black side, commanding his forces of slavering undead beasts to capture his beloved summoner Yuna. I'd be open to other suggestions if anyone has a paired costume that fits that theme.

At this stage, I would need out of people some volunteers to do a chess match for me again. I'm getting better at chess, but that's not really saying anything at all. DJ, it'd be great if you came back to do the match again, and I'm sure that Mike would be happy to do another match, but there's no pressure for you to do so.

I'd also like people to give some vague consideration to what they might like to do as far as the event. This year, in addition to pieces, I'm looking for one, perhaps two people to act as the two opponents, and an announcer.
Any interested parties can feel free to drop their ideas/concerns/heartfelt entreaties in the thread.

EDIT:
I was also thinking that this year, instead of having everyone but the combatants move off the board, just having the two battling pieces move off the board, and instead do battle center stage. That way, everyone gets a good view of the action, and we save the time of everyone trundling on and off the board/finding their spot/adjusting the chessboard.

Have you ever looked at the clouds and seen shapes and stuff in them? well what if instead there were actually creatures inside them that could be controled by people. the creatures themselves are very complex there overall evolution varys upon what sort of cloud formation they come from and what level of th eatmosphere they are born into. they range from sea life to aircraft type desgin but there body is made up of mostly water vapor which makes them hard to track and they can vanish out of site when ever necisarry

im still working on a desgin but please if you read this give me feed back and if you would be interested in helping me draft up some designs feel free

I thought that I would start a thread where we can discuss doll concepts for future purchases, incoming doll excitement and arrival photos.

Currently I'm waiting for a Notdoll Ligaya. She is before shipping and I'm very impatiently waiting for a shipping notice for her. I have a wig and clothes all set for her! I hope that she arrives before the doll meet at the end of the month.

I just purchased an Elfdoll June sleeping head so I can eventually get the eyes modded open. Since Elfdoll closed their sales to 90% of the public, it's going to hard to find reasonably priced dolls from them I'm sure. I plan to put her on a resinsoul body to start out with. Maybe upgrading to a Supia body.

Toy Show on july 11th, at the holiday inn wolf road in albany. (brought to you by the same guys who did albany comic con). I am likely going to dress up as some form of a DC comics charecter. Whether you plan to dress up or not would anyone be interested in meeting there?
