okay im attempting to create a cosplay based on a monster that i have created.

I'll have too upload pictures of him but for now i just need some tips on where to find some gear.

Mainly I require things that can be made into armor or contructed into blade *not sharp and deadly obviously*

also when painting something like that do you use a certain type of paint?

Forums aren't generally super busy as I learned when I first joined in August. Give people a few days and you might get a reply ^^
[DJ EDIT: What she said. I'm adding a clause to the forum rules that you may not bump a thread more than once per day. See also: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bump_(Internet)#Netiquette ]

Are you looking to make armor or a blade? Or both?

For swords/weapons, you can't go wrong with wood as long as you have the right tools. The pink insulation foam (a polystyrene) works great if you're limited on tools, but it makes a mess...wear a dust mask!
For armor, there's a lot of tutorials available online, but I tend to use either craft foam or wonderflex.

I use mostly acrylics for painting. However, if you are using spray paint, be sure to prep and seal surfaces to prevent scratches.

i was thinking of finding old sports gear like football or sparing wear that i can paint black. also you mentioned that home depot has alot of practical items for most things. are most of them cheap becuase i may need to get some wire tubing for my creaturs tail and how did you make that devil hand for the devil may cry cosplay and how would you go about putting small armor peices onto a glove?
my monster shares a body type like this
